NSS, DBC Maram organizes 'Fit India Plog run' in a tribute to Mahatma Gandhi

On the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi (October 2), NSS of Don Bosco College organised a "Fit India Plogging Run" across the village, a dual initiative of creating a clean and fit India.
Over 400 NSS volunteers, students and people participated in the Fit India Plog Run which was organised at Maram Centre.
The volunteers assembled at Maram Centre at 6.30 am to witness the welcome speech delivered by Adazzia, the vice-Captain of NSS Unit 1 in which she highlighted the importance of Fit India Plog Run.
Fr Dr KO Sebastian too exhorted the volunteers to continue to do this beautiful work of enhancing the village adding that it is not just a one-day activity, Fit India is a movement which should be done throughout the year.
Dr Anthony, Assistant Professor of Don Bosco College Maram flagged off the event which was also participated by Sweta, Shyamsunder Luwang, John Britto and other teachers of the college while many villagers too joined in the 2 kilometer run and picked up plastic and other waste from the road and put them into jute bags to be dumped in large garbage bins later.
Plogging is picking up plastic and waste items while jogging and have two effects namely 'Swasth' and 'Swachhta' which is staying fit while keeping the village clean.
The Fit India Plog Run is a part of the Fit India Movement launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on August 29 this year.
