A joint meeting of MLAs and ex-MLAs of Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee was held today at Congress Bhawan to discuss the present condition of COVID-19 pandemic and political developments within the Congress party.
The meeting was chaired by N Loken Singh, interim president of MPCC and was also attended by O Ibobi Singh who is the CLP leader, Gaikhangam, CWC member, AICC, TN Haokip and other prominent faces, said a statement issued by MPCC.
Various decisions were taken at the meeting including to stand firmly against the pandemic; drawing Government's attention in ensuring basic amenities of health care and other necessary benefits among all the people affected by the pandemic; extending all possible support to avail benefits and support under Government sponsored schemes; questioning the effectiveness of 'Curfew' in controlling the pandemic and seeking answer from the Government regarding compensation for victims of COVID-19.MPCC also took the decision to strengthen the party and to reach out to every section of Manipuri society in order to recognise and acknowledge the common needs of the people with the aim of bringing back the Congress to power in the upcoming election with absolute majority.
