SDSA warns drivers, owners

The Senapati District Students' Association (SDSA) today warned the drivers and owners of vehicles plying along the National Highway 2 to strictly adhere to the Supreme Court's ruling with permissible limits which allow six-wheeled trucks a load of 9 tons and 10-wheeled vehicles a 15 tons respectively, according to statement issued by the association.
The statement stressed on the menace caused by the overloaded vehicles, huge expenses to maintain the roads and increasing number of roads accidents, failure on the part of contractors and labourers to maintain a quality work due to around 500 overloaded vehicles plying along the highway including security convoys and tankers without checking.
The statement also urged the State Government to take up stringent measure to curb the overloading menace by installing weighing bridge at the border area near Mao Gate and weighing machine wherever necessary.
It also stressed on the need to repair the roadside drainage along the highway.
