Dr Priya Ganesh recommends women to undergo colposcopy procedure

Dr Priya Ganesh, chairperson, Federation of Obstetric and Gynaecological Societies of India (FOGSI) Gynaecological Oncology Committee has appealed to all women to undergo a colposcopy test in order to get themselves checked for any potential cervical cancer cells.
The chairperson made the appeal during the course of a workshop titled 'Continuing Medical Education (CME) cum Colposcopy Workshop' held at JNIMS, Porompat today.
It may be noted that the workshop was jointly organised by the Federation of Obstetric and Gynaecological Societies of India (FOGSI) Gynaecological Oncology Committee, The Imphal Obstetric and Gynaecological Society (IOGS) and Gynaecology Unit, JNIMS at JNIMS auditorium hall.

Speaking as the chief guest, she highlighted the need for women to find out their precancerous status.
Commenting on the availability of many mobile applications to get screened for cervical cancer, she added that she would soon be launching an app in this regard.
The FOGSI chairperson further said that this app will provide invaluable data on precancerous cell detection in a year and contribute immensely in the field of cervical cancer.
Professor Laishram Deben Singh delivered the presidential speech and said that the best way to combat cervical cancer is early detection of the disease.
Highlighting the necessity for women to be well-informed about this disease, he said that ASHA and other healthcare workers should provide awareness to women in rural areas in this connection.
The event was also attended by Professor L Ranjit, president Manipur Medical Council, Dr K Pratima, Assistant Professor, JNIMS and various obstetricians and gynaecologists.
