Imphal, July 03 2013:
Tangkhul Naga Long (TNL), Tangkhul Katamnao Saklong (TKS), Tangkhul Shanao Long (TSL) and Tangkhul Mayar Ngakla Long (TMNL) have reiterated their demand for transfer of Deputy Commissioner of Ukhrul R Sudhan on or before July 10 and warned of launching intense agitations if the State Government fails to do so within the set deadline.
In a joint statement signed jointly by General Secretary of TNL K Dickson, President of TSL Ringluiwon, President of TMNL Ningkhan Shang and Presient of TKS YS Yangmi Khapai, the four Tangkhul bodies asserted that it has been over a year that Ukhrul district administration has failed in all fronts.
Citing some of the alleged failures of the district administration, the joint statement mentioned the incident of killing of two Kongkan hunters by UNLF, the Napetpalli incident, accident death of SSA staff inside the Mini Secretariat, partying incident Mini Secretariat, transit camp compound, encouraging drugs and alcohol sale and trafficking, etc.
Moreover, the Deputy Commissioner has been very irregular in attending to his duties.
So, the public have started questioning whether Sudhan is posted in Imphal East or Imphal West.
How could a district administrator attend his office for one or two days in a week?, the Tangkhul bodies questioned, and added that the alleged divide rule policy played by the Deputy Commissioner towards the frontal organizations has affected the Tangkhul society.
The use of in-service teachers of schools under ZEO and ADC as SSA staff without replacement has also affected the career of the students, the joint statement alleged.
Although the required percentage from the office for VAT had already been deducted from the first installment under BADP scheme, the deputy Commissioner has again deducted another 2/3 amount from the final bill in the name of miscellaneous taxes.
This has really shocked the entire populace of Ukhrul.
Moreover, the Deputy Commissioner has deducted unreasonable amount of Rs 5000 from all the agencies for painting of signboards, the joint statement added.
