The mothers of Moirang on behalf of all the mothers in Manipur prayed for restoration of peace and normalcy in the State which has been in turmoil ever since the outbreak of ethnic conflict in May last year by making offerings to Ibudhou Thangjing Moirang today.
The prayer ceremony was jointly organised by Moirang Kendra Apunba Meira Paibi Ima Lup (MAMPIL); Village Volunteer Force Moirang and Kege Moirang Kendra Apunba lup (KEMKAL) .
The mothers gathered at Moirang Khoiru Leikai Maridop and took out a religious procession passing through Moirang Lamkhai and offered prayers at Keithel Lairembi of Moirang Keithel and then headed off to Ibudhou Thangjing Moirang complex for the main ceremony.
The mothers made offerings and carried out the ritual of 'cheng heiba' praying for the restoration of peace and a settled society free from conflicts and chaos.
Speaking in connection with the prayer ceremony, MAMPIL president Konjengbam Padmo expressed dismay over the failure of the Government to resolve the ethnic crisis which has caused extensive damage rendering thousands homeless and leading to loss of many innocent and precious lives over the past one year.
Adding more woes to the already affected people, the State has been witnessing natural calamities on an unprecedented scale which is really unfortunate, she remarked.
In view of the immense problems faced by the people, the prayer ceremony has been observed for the prosperity and peace for all, she said.
