Three vehicle lifters nabbed

Churachandpur police has yesterday apprehended a gang of vehicle lifters from various places along with two motor bikes and an Activa that was stolen a few days back, police sources said.
With news of motorbikes thievery making the news almost on a weekly basis, the district Police cracked the whip when Chiengkonpang Welfare Committee handed over to them one Paulalzom (24) after catching him red-handed yesterday.
During his interrogation, Paulalzom had identified his two accomplices who are based at Kwakta.
The police then raided the duo's residences and discovered two bikes � Bajaj Pulsar 220 and Yamaha R-15, from a cow shed underneath a stack of paddy-straw.
They have also recovered one Activa from Terakhongsangbi after arresting Md Sana (30) of Kwakta Ward No 7 and Md Sirojuddin (18) of Kwakta, Ward no 5.The Honda Activa that is originally black in colour was painted in white after it was lifted by the gang, said the source.
The arrested gang members will remain in police custody till Monday next.
Meanwhile, the District Transport Office has during March listed 190 new vehicles in the district.
Motorcycles top the list with 122, followed by Cars with 20.Diesel Autos and Vans stood third at 8 each; Trucks, Buses and Jeeps and other make up the remaining.
