DESAM pledges support

Imphal, November 02 2013 : Democratic Students' Alliance of Manipur (DESAM) has said that it will pledge support to all the reasonable points of the proposed stir of Manipur University Teachers Association (MUTA) .

Apart from various other points, DESAM has been constantly demanding for filling of statutory posts of the varsity since 2008, said a press release.

Leaving aside all the personal interests, MUTA must stage the stir until their demands are fulfilled, DESAM suggested.

Filling vacant posts of Pro-VC, Controller of Examination, College Development Council, Director Academic Staff College and Finance Officer is a must, DESAM observed.

The student's body also urged the MU authority to bring the sense of competition among various Departments of the University, introduce plans to take classes regularly by faculties, respect faculties by MU authority, introduce the tradition of not taking contract works and supply orders by faculties.

DESAM also urged the VC and Registrar not to be autocratic while administering the varsity.

The student's body also said that the time has come to take the responsibility of saving the university by teachers and students instead of remaining as a silent spectator.

DESAM also urged the University authority to put in serious effort to enhance the status of the university so that their contributions are remembered by the future generation.
