Imphal, September 02 2020:
Raising strong objection over the appointment of Ramkrishna Koijam as the new president of BJYM (Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha), Manipur Pradesh, the volunteers of the youth wing took out a protest at the BJP State Unit's office at Nityaipat Chuthek yesterday.
It is said that the BJP State president, Prof S Tikendra; Deputy Speaker, K Robindro and MLA, L Sushindro were present at the party office when the volunteers of the youth wing were protesting and raising slogans such as "remove ineligible new BJYM president", "appoint deserving person" etc.
The volunteers during the protest, questioned the State president on what basis was Ramkrishna Koijam, who had worked and campaigned for CPI earlier, appointed as the new president of BJYM State unit.
Saying that Ramkrishna "lacks merit" to be the president of BJYM, Manipur Pradesh, the protesters maintained that they can not work under him and sought his immediate removal from the post.
The volunteers went on to say that the person was expelled from the BJP Thangmeiband Mandal earlier for campaigning in favour of CPI.
They also asked his (Ramkrishna's) contribution to the party and how come he was allotted the charge of the BJYM, Manipur Pradesh's president when there are a handful of eligible candidates who had joined and worked for the party for a very long time.
Appointment of such post to someone who joined the youth wing lately is condemnable and unacceptable, the volunteers remarked while demanding the State BJP president to appoint an eligible and deserving candidate.
