Peasants take out peace rally

Taking serious note of the highly insecure situation prevailing in the State, farmers coming from different parts of Imphal East district took out a peace rally in Lamlai area under the aegis of the Awang Nongpok Apunba Loumee Lup (ANAL) today.
The farmers carried placards and festoons which read as "Make revolution for the people", "Unite, all revolutionary groups", "Don't divide people by ethno-centric armed movement", "Don't trigger bomb blasts in civilian populated areas" "Resolve Indo-Manipur conflict", "Peasants are souls of the society", "Nation's development lies in farmers' progress", "Peasants' voice is the nation's voice" etc.
The peace rally started from Lamlai Bazar and terminated at the same point after passing through Yorbung Bazar.
After the peace rally, the farmers participated in an awareness cum training programme where they deliberated on the ways and agricultural methods of enhancing food productivity to meet demands of the increasing g population.
The training programme was attended by Lamlai Nagar Panchayat Chairperson Ng Robin and Awang Nongpok Apunba Loumee Lup president Nilkomol as chief guest and president respectively.
Experts from Fishery Department and Central Agricultural University presented lectures on different topics at the training programme.
