Bishnupur, November 01 2024:
The JAC against inhumane torture of Md Basir Ahamad and Salauddin at Phubala on 28 October convenor Buyamayum Iliyas Khan has appealed for collective effort to prevent similar assaults in the future instead of engaging in a back and forth through the medias.
He was responding to the statement made by Phubala Apunba Meira Paibi Lup wherein a representative claimed that no such incident of assault occurred on the night of October 28 at Phubala and urged the people of Kwakta to clarify where the assault took place by November 2 .
The JAC convenor made the statement during a press conference held at All Kwakta Youth Voluntary Organisation (AKYVO) office at Kwakta Bazar today.
Addressing the media, Buyamayum Iliyas Khan said that the Lup's statement is akin to pouring salt on the wounds of the victims.
He shared that the unfortunate incident occurred one and a half km away from Phubala village, but alleged that the area is still under the jurisdiction of Phubala Gram Panchayat.
He said that the victims of assault might not have pin pointed the exact location due to ignorance but the meira paibis could have informed them about the right location instead of demanding a clarification from the JAC.
Terming the episode as unfortunate, he called for joint efforts to prevent such incidents and to excuse each others' mistakes.
The press briefing was attended by representatives of Anjuman Islah-E Muashara Kwakta, AMPIYA, AKYVO and AKCOC.
