Imphal, February 01 2013:
National Identity Protection Committee (NIPCO) has demanded the State Government, more particularly the Home Minister to reveal the true identity of the person named 'Henry' who is supposedly the owner of the drug consignment seized from Imphal Tulihal Airport on January 11 last.
Talking to Hueiyen Lanpao, President of NIPCO Karam Sunil observed that from the buzz among the people, it is evident that one person by the name of Henry is the supposed owner of the Pseudoephedrine tablet consignment worth around Rs 1.4 crore which was seized by a team of Special Intelligence Unit (SIU), Imphal West led by its Inspector K Ranjit.
So, instead of remaining silence, the State Government, more particularly, the Home Minister should produce the kingpin of the 11th January Tulihal airport drug scandal.
The NIPCO President said that the manner in which SIU Imphal West was abolished just four days after the incident of drug seizure and inability of the State Government to reveal the identity of the owner of the drugs seized has clearly sent out a strong message that some of the high profile politicians and powerful people are directly or indirectly involved in the drug trade in Maipur.
It also appears that the abolition of SIU and transferring of Inspector K Ranjit, who led the SIU team, a day after the drug seizure from the airport was to shut the mouth of the Inspector and wipe out all other drug related cases.
Karam Sunil also called upon the people to stand firm and fight against drug traders to save Manipuri society.
Secretary of NIPCO Rishi Mangacha asserted that the State Government should take no time in exposing the identity of the culprit if it understands the pulse of the people.
