Power sub-stations inaugurated at Wangoi and Yairipok

Power Minister Thongam Biswajit Singh today inaugurated 33/11 kV Sub-Stations of Wangoi & Yairipok at Irom Siphai, Wangoi.
Addressing the inaugural function, Thongam Biswajit said that power is the most important requirement for a country or a region to become industrialised.
But now we will have sufficient and surplus power supply, he added.
The Minister asserted that one of the biggest achievements of the present government is that the State now has a capacity of around 1000 kV power supply.
He said that despite all the shortages, the two companies Manipur State Power Distribution Company Limited and Manipur State Power Company Limited under the present government have made many achievements with the little available resources and some help from the Ministry.
Thongam Biswajit also said that earlier Wangoi area used to receive poor quality of power as power was fed partly from Mongsangei and Mayang Imphal and due to the distance, the end-points used to receive poor quality power.
The inauguration of the Wangoi 33/11 kV sub-station will now provide quality power to the public of the area and adjoining villages including Kodompokpi, Thongkhong Luxmi Bazar, Oinam Leikai, Bitra Urokhong and some parts of Lilong, etc.
Power supply in Yairipok area was earlier supplied partly from Kongba and Thoubal sub-stations, but now the newly inaugurated Yairipok 33/11kV sub-station will provide quality power to people of the area and adjoining villages including Yambem, Andro, Kaina, Poiroukhongjin, Khoirom, Chandrakhong, Tangkhul Village, etc,.
Further in his speech, the Minister said that under the present government the State has also witnessed huge improvement in the road conditions.
He said except for some stretches where road improvement work are being undertaken, road conditions of all highways including the Imphal-Dimapur and Imphal Jiribam have also improved tremendously.
He continued that today, Manipur is also witnessing huge traffic congestion and that in order to improve the condition, the Elevated Highways project will be sanctioned soon and that tender for consultancy has already been completed.
Thongam Biswajit also said that the Act East Policy will be hugely beneficial for the State, as Manipur is the doorway or India's corridor to the South East Asian countries.
Further saying that the COVID-19 vaccine is safe, the Minister appealed to all to take the vaccine and further encouraged the "Vaccine for All, Vaccine for Free".
Addressing the gathering, Agriculture, Veterinary & Animal Husbandry & Tourism Minister Shri O.Lukhoi Singh applauded the locals for their support and cooperation in the construction of the power Sub-Station and further sought cooperation for the smooth functioning of the sub-station.
TheWangoi 33/11 kV sub-station was funded under the IPDS and State Plan with a total cost of Rs.842 crore.
The Yairipok 33/11 kV sub-station was funded under the IPDS and State Plan with a total cost of Rs.9.32 crores.
The Power Finance Corporation is the Nodal Agency for the projects executed under IPDS.
The inaugural function organised by the MSPCL, was also attended by MD N Sarat, and officials of both MSPCL and MSPDCL.
