State observes National Unity Day

Honouring the priceless contributions of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel towards unifying the country, the State today observed the Rashtriya Ekta Diwas or National Unity Day at the Parade ground of 1st Manipur Rifles Battalion, Imphal.
On the occasion, Chief Minister N Biren remembered the contributions of Sardar Patel towards building a strong and united India.
He said that Sardar Patel was a prominent National leader who stood boldly against the British oppressive policy and participated in Civil Disobedience Movement, Peasants' Movement, Quit India Movement etc.
He is often referred as the Patron Saint of India's Civil Servants for his contribution towards introduction of Modern All India Services System, he added.
The Chief Minister also received salutes from seven march past contingents.
Additional Director of Manipur Police Training College Asana Sarangthem was the parade commander of the march past parade.
CAF&PD Minister Karam Shyam, Education Minister Th Radheshyam, MLAs and high ranking civil and police officers attended the observance.
