Death of Ravi: Protest march taken out, JAC gives 5-day deadline

Reacting against the mysterious death of Pangambam Ravi of Khurai Ningthoubung Leikai, a BA 2nd Year student in Government College for Men, Chandigarh, a public rally was taken out in Imphal today to demand appropriate actions against the culprits.
The rally was organized by the Joint Action Committee (JAC) formed in connection with the death.
Earlier during the day, a sit-in-protest demonstration was staged at Khurai Kongpal Thongkhong and it was participated by a large number of local Meira Paibis and club volunteers.
The protestors demanded the government of Punjab to investigate into the mysterious killing of Ravi and provide justice to the victim.
Later in the afternoon, the protestors took out a rally shouting slogans.

At Khurai Lamlong Keithel area, police stopped the protestors from going head.
Notwithstanding that, women vendors of Lamlong Keithel joined the protestors in shouting slogans.
Talking to mediapersons on the sideline of the protest demonstration, Convener of the JAC, Konsam Dilip said that the dumping of Ravi's body in forest after killing him is a serious matter.
So, Punjab government and Chandigarh administration should investigate into the matter so as to find out the culprits for awarding befitting punishment.
He informed that representatives of the JAC have met Home Minister Gaikhangam and Chief Minister Okram Ibobi and submitted memorandum demanding justice.
Both the Chief Minister and the Home Minister assured that they would do everything possible in finding out the truth behind the dead and bring justice.
Accordingly, the Chief Secretary as well as the Additional Principal Secretary (Home) of Manipur who are currently at Delhi has been instructed to go to Chandigarh and review the matter.
JAC demanded the state government to find the culprits within five days and provide adequate security arrangements for Manipuri students studying in other states of India.
If the government failed to fulfill these demands, the JAC will launch a series of intense agitation with the support of the people, Dilip warned.
Pangambam ongbi Nganthoi, heartbroken mother of Ravi, said that the state government should arrange adequate security measures to protect students of the state in other states so that nobody suffers the same fate like that of her son in future.
She also demanded the state government to bring justice.
