AMWJU tour flagged off

A press tour to Meghalaya organised by the All Manipur Working Journalists' Union (AMWJU) exclusively for women journalists was flagged off today by Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam from Manipur Press Club, Majorkhul.
Speaking at the flag off function, Gaikhangam stated that journalism has been growing fast in Manipur.
He also highlighted the immense responsibilities of media.
The number of journalists in the State was not many some years back.
But today many young people have joined the profession.
Stating that such press tours would be refreshing for the journalist fraternity, Gaikhangam wished safe and happy journey to all the participants.
Altogether 16 journalists including 11 women and five AMWJU functionaries led by president Wangkhemcha Shamjai are taking part in the tour.
They will visit different places of Meghalaya including the Redlands, Shillong.
