The Kuki CSOs of Churachandpur have appealed the armed group, ZRA to stop torturing innocent villagers of Suongsang area under Henglep A/C stating that such action will only lead to misunderstanding and unnecessary impasse.
Addressing the media at Kuki Inpi, Churachandpur (KIC) office at Lamka, the president of KIC, who reportedly headed the fact finding CSO team last week in the interior villages said the villagers have been subjected to forced labour by ZRA.
The CSO team comprising of KSO, KKL, KIC and KWHR claimed that they had visited the area and interacted with elders of 12 villages after walking on foot for several hours to hear the first-hand account of the suffering from men and women of the area.
The team representatives claimed that besides forced labour, these villagers have been continually tortured and threatened creating fear psychosis among them.
The team also claimed that during the recent ADC election, the armed group had imposed their diktat, and in some villages went to the extent of torturing men before their spouses and dragging them out in the village pathway.
