Imphal, December 31 2012: A month-long event organised by the Nupi Lan Memorial Association in commemoration of Nupi Lan culminated today at Nupi Lan complex.

Addressing the function as chief guest, Patsoi Zilla Parishad Member Th Sumanta recalled the heroic struggle of Manipur women against artificial food scarcity and deprivation of rights in the form of forced labour as manifested in the two historic Nupi Lans.

"It is our good fortune that we can offer our humble tributes to those brave mothers," he said.

The main feature of the function was offering floral tributes to the statue of Nupi Lan and also to photographs of all the Nupi Lan martyrs.

Nupi Lan Memorial Association steering committee secretary Longjamba Meetei, Nupi Lan Memorial Association, Uripok-Naoremthong branch president H Sorojini, Nupi Lan Drama Committee secretary organisation L Modhu Leima, observation secretary of the Committee K Gambhini, Sangakpham branch president Yumkham Indrani, Nupi Lan Memorial Association vice-president Thoudam Ibemhal, Kh Shakhenbi, and Sapam Joychandra spoke at the function.
