Prizes for various competitions jointly organised by Manipur State AIDS Control Society (MACS), NSS Cell of Manipur University and Red Ribbon Club of DM College of Commerce during week-long celebration of International Youth Day were distributed in a function held at college campus today.
MACS Project Director Dr SK Chourasia, DM College of Commerce Principal N Brajakumar and Manipur University NSS Coordinator Dr Ch Ibohal attended the function as chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively.
In his keynote address, MACS Deputy Director (IEC) Dr RK Rosie said that the weeklong celebration kick started on August 12 at GP Women's College.
As part of the celebration, a mega blood donation camp was held in association with JN Hospital at Biramangol College, Sawombung on August 13.Around 80 units of blood was collected during the camp, she added.
Short film competition was conducted on August 21 while radio jingle and radio feature competitions were held at Standard College on August 21, she said and added that audio-visual competition was held on August 22 at Imphal College.
Rs 5000, Rs 3000 and Rs 2000 with certificates were rewarded to first, second and third prize winners.
Two consolation prize winners in each category were also rewarded with Rs 500 and certificate.
Top three position holders of the competition would represent Manipur at National level competition, Rosie added.
Speaking at the function, Dr SK Chourasia said that youth must march forward with a positive frame of mind.
Youths must understand their surrounding as they would decide the future of the society, he added.
Dr Ch Ibohal said that young students must be aware of HIV/AIDS as they are the pillars of the society.
N Brajakumar said that guardians and teachers must play major role in shaping the future of the youths.
