House passes 5 demands worth Rs 5358 cr

Imphal, July 30 2022:
On the 6th day of the 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly on Saturday, five demands for grants of different departments worth Rs 5358,42,59,000 were passed.
The demands for grants which got the approval of the House included Rs 4046,34,14,000 for community and rural development, Rs 493,25,19,000 for power department, Rs 139,06,71,000 for YAS department, Rs 16,19,93,000 for State Academy of Training and Rs 663,56,62,000 for Minorities and Other Backward Classes and Scheduled Castes Department.
All the demands for grants were moved by chief minister N Biren, who also holds the finance portfolio.
While Opposition members K Meghachandra, Th Lokeshwar, Surjakumar Okram and K Ranjit raised Policy Cut Motions; MLA Ram Muivah and MLA M Rameshwar gave their observations during discussion on these demands for grants.
The House later passed all the demands after the Opposition members withdrew their motions.
Later, education and law and legislative affairs minister, Th Basantakumar tabled the annual (2020-21) report of the Manipur Human Rights Commission and a memorandum under Section 28 of the Protection of Human Rights Act, 1993 .
