Moirangthem Ibocha, a supporter of an intending BJP candidate from Andro A/C has claimed that the report which was published in various daily newspapers accusing him of threatening MLA Shyamkumar of Andro Kendra is false and baseless.
Speaking to media persons at Yairipok Yambem today, Ibocha claimed that he did not threaten to kill the MLA as he respects the MLA and there was no reason for him to threaten him.
However, he claimed that the MLA himself had once threatened him at gunpoint some 10 years ago and his elder brother Angouton was also threatened at gun point three months ago near the residence of MLA Nimaichand Luwang.
He added that he does not recognise the secretary of Yambem Apunba Meira Lup who made the comments in the newspapers.
Bimola Nahakpam, the mother-in-law of Sonia, who sustained injuries in yesterday's event alleged that the scuffle began after the MLA's workers including Lourembam Shyamjai and his son Sanjoy, Laourembam Shyamkesho, Sanabam Bimol and Sanabam Apik hailing from Yambem village, began throwing stones at Nimaichand's home.
When Nimaichand's relative, Nahakpam Amujao returned home the aforementioned workers attacked him, she stated and alleged that Sonia, who is eight months pregnant, sustained injuries when she tried to stop the fight and they used sticks and stones to beat her.
She also said that a case has been filed at the Andro police station but there has been no action from the police's side.
The accused individuals have to bear the responsibility if anything happens to her, she added.
According to reports, four other people besides Sonia namely Nahakpam Kunjarani Devi , Moirangthem Tabobi Devi, Nahakpam Santo, Nahakpam Pishakmacha Devi also sustained injuries during the scuffle and are undergoing treatment at the hospital.
Ibocha accused MLA Shyamkumar of using brute force against his opposition and stated that four workers from Tumukhong village who were returning home from MLA Nimaichand's residence were hospitalised at JNIMS after they were beaten up by a group of people led by Thounaojam Nabachandra, elder brother of Shyamkumar, at Moirangpurel Fura Makhong.
He further alleged that the authorities concerned were pretending not to notice the actions of the MLA.
