Imphal, December 29 2021:
Former Minister Dr Nimaichand Luwang has categorically stated that Congress won't be able to field candidates in all 60 Assembly segments in the 12th State Legislative Assembly elections.
Addressing media persons at State Guest House at Sanjenthong today, the BJP intending candidate from Wangkhem AC continued that the grand old party is in a very bad position in the run up to the Assembly election.
Claiming that Congress is like a party that has fallen to the sewer as more and more of its leaders have joined other parties, Dr Nimaichand continued that BJP, however, will secure absolute majority in the election as the party has the backing of all.
A large number of candidates are also vying for BJP tickets underlining its appeal, he added.
Dr Nimaichand also dubbed Congress as an out of work party that concentrates on counting BJP flags and posters.
He further claimed that the vigor of Congress which won 28 seats in the 2017 Assembly elections is reducing gradually as the party gave its tickets to politicians who don't have any idea about X Schedule.
Congress leaders remarking that more than one candidate eying for a BJP ticket in a single AC will hinder the party is baseless, Dr Nimaichand claimed and added that BJP is not like the Congress which takes deposit from candidates.
"BJP will surely give its tickets to the candidates who uphold the party ideology and are closest to the people," he said.
Saying that BJP led Government in the State has brought myriad achievements to the State, the intending candidate reiterated that instances of fake encounters and prolonged imposition of blockades have become things of the past.
