Fingerlings released in ponds

Imphal, September 29 2024: With an aim to promote fish farming and improve the economy of the people, fingerlings were released in nine ponds at Thanga Assembly Constituency today.

This was the 7th time fingerlings have been released in ponds following the initiative of Chief Minister N Biren Singh to promote aquaculture.

The fingerlings were released by the Fisheries Department in association with local clubs under the aegis of Thanga AC MLA Tongbram Robindro.

The number of fingerlings released today would be around 27,000-30,000.The fingerlings were released at Haogrampat Public Pond, Moirangkhunou Teramakhong Awang Public Pond, Moirangkhunou Khongnangkhong Public Pond, Moirangkhunou Maning Leikai Pond, Kairenphabi Mamang Leikai Public Pond, Thangalawai Khongnangkhong Public Pond, Thangalawai Sabal Leikai Public Pond, Thangalawai Khumanthem Chuthek Public Pond and Kangshoibi Mapal Public Pond.

Bishnupur District Fisheries Officer E Rameshwar said the Department so far has released fingerlings in public ponds at areas under Nambol, Bishnupur and Moirang Assembly Constituency.
