Farmer-scientist interaction at Chandel

The service of up to date technology should be used to produce sufficient agriculture products so that the needs of the growing population are met, said Th Chitaranjan, DC of Chandel district.
He was speaking as the chief guest at the inaugural function of a two-day farmers-scientists interaction programme organised by the District Agriculture Office, Chandel under Agriculture Technology Management Agency at the Training Hall, DRDA, Chandel.
He further urged the farmers not to neglect maintenance of quality while using technology for greater production.
President of the function, K Manoranjan, Additional Chief Engineer CADA/Farm Mechanisation (Agri) said the department has procured several machines for use by farmers.
He said the department is in possession of several machines to help the farmers in harvesting including water pump.
He appealed the farmers to take the assistance of the machines and ensure greater agriculture production.
The inaugural function of the programme was attended by L Ibomcha, CDO/i-c ICDP-Rice; and Dr S Nimaichand Singh, Seed Testing Officer as the guests of honour.
Progressive farmers within five blocks of Chandel district�Chakpikarong, Chandel, Machi, Khengjoi, and Tengnoupal, were distributed hybrid seeds free of cost during the programme.
Dr A Herojit Singh, Associate Professor (Soil Science), CAU, Iroisemba; Dr Kh Ibohal Singh, Sr Assistant Professor (Entomology), CAU and Dr Y Rajendra Singh, Joint Director (Vety) Chandel have spoke in the technical session.
The scientists have also interacted with the farmers during the session.
