PLP for Bishnupur district launched

Potential Linked Credit Plan (PLP) 2017-18 prepared by NABARD for Bishnupur district was launched yesterday by M Harekrishna, Deputy Commissioner, at his office chamber on the side-lines of the District Consultative Committee (DCC/DLRC) meeting for quarter end September, our correspondent reports.
NABARD's PLP is an assessment of bankable potential available in a district for various sub-sectors of agriculture, allied sectors, MSME sector and other priority sector for the year 2017-18 and serves as the basis for Annual Credit Plan for the district.
As per the assessment, the total credit potential for Bishnupur was projected at Rs 198 crore, of which Rs 155 crore is identified for the agriculture sector alone.
The release document will also serve as a reference document for preparing Service Area Plans (SAPs), credit planning at various levels and for creation of requisite infrastructure by the State Government, according to NABARD.
As the Government sets out a plan to re-orient its interventions in the country's farm and non-farm sectors, to double the income of the farmers by 2022, NABARD in tune with the Government's plan, has chosen the theme "Doubling of Farmers' Income by 2022" for preparing the PLP 2017-18 .
The document that was launched in the presence of D Valte LDM, Bishnupur; Thangchinkhup Guite, AGM,/DDM Bishnupur and CCPur; Nandeep Singh Manager, RBI and Branch Managers of Banks operating in Bishnupur District and the SDPO of Bishnupur Binoy Chongtham, also entails a chapter on skill India with reference to Bishnupur district, climate change and its impact on rural livelihoods.
