Kangpokpi, July 28 2014 :
Expressing concern over the decrepit and moldy condition of Community Health Centre, Kangpokpi which is the First Referral Unit (FRU) in Sadar Hills, Kangpokpi, Youth Union, Kangpokpi today began a cleanliness drive at CHC complex and white washing of the decades old building.
More than 50 youths from different communities took part in the drive.
Speaking on the sidelines of the cleanliness drive, Kangpokpi Youth Union secretary, Lynd Kipgen said, "Bestowing this humble social work at CHC Kangpokpi we are drawing the attention of the Government particularly the authority concerned to address the needs of this festering Health Centre which serves the needs of the whole Sadar Hills" .
Lynd Kipgen said that witnessing the untidy and unhygienic condition of the CHC for the past many years the union feels rueful for the patients compelling to seek permission from the health centre to initiate a social work.
He further pointed out that there are many outdated and old infrastructures at the CHC.
Most of the mattresses are worn out and beds defective which clearly signifies the lackadaisical attitude of the Government.
The 40 years old building has never been repaired till date, he added.
Saying that CHC Kangpokpi has never witnessed the full strength of doctors, Lynd Kipgen added that maximum 4-5 doctors attend patients most of the time.
KYU therefore demanded the Government for new building construction at the earliest and install new infrastructure as well as immediate posting of required number of doctors at the centre.
The secretary also said that the cleanliness drive at CHC Kangpokpi will continue till cleaning and white washing of the building is completed even if it takes a week or two.
Patients at CHC Kangpokpi told the local media persons that they feel allergic while seeing the building and infrastructures though they receive good treatment from the doctors and nurses.
They also lauded the Youth Union of Kangpokpi for taking up the endeavour.
