Imphal, April 28 2016:
Expressing serious concern over the issues besetting the State, senior Advocate Khaidem Mani today urged all concerned to bring amicable settlement to all problems.
Senior Advocate Khaidem Mani while interacting with media persons today at Cheirap Court, said that the death cases of Sagolsem Prashanta alias Abung (23) of Kakwa Nameirakpam Leikai who was found hung at Lilong Haoreibi Awang Leikai; Bachaspatimayum Pitaranjan Sharma alias Korabin (22) of Nongmeibung who was found dead at Kangkum village in Ukhrul district and the road accident which killed Oinam Kunjamani of Yairikpok Laimanai have sparked controversies and mistrust in different parts of the State.
Other issues like non-allotment of parking space for Tata Winger and Magic drivers plying along Tiddim road and the confrontation of Wangkhei Hijam Leirak locals and Panthou Ishaikol also caused disturbance to the public.
These problems merit to be solved through peaceful means, Khaidem Mani said.
The State Govt should intervene and play its part, he demanded.
Scientific methodology should be used to investigate the cases where people were killed, he said, adding that failure of the police to detect the culprits is unfortunate.
Rumours and hate speech spread by some anti-social elements should be checked as it could incite communal passion among the various ethnic communities of Manipur, he said.
"A particular community should not be blamed for the mistakes committed by some individual members of that community," Mani added.
Any wrong should be taken at the individual level.
Further he said that if the police had started prompt and thorough investigation after the incidents the ongoing bandh and blockade could have been avoided, he opined.
Allowing frequent bandh and blockade in the State even though all such activities were declared illegal by the Supreme Court as it affects Human Rights, is a testimony that the State Govt has failed to take any prompt steps.
He added that there is lack of governance.
Further he urged all people to refrain from instigating communal tensions and take pro-active role in solving the ongoing issues amicably.
