Imphal, November 27 2011:
Allegations of faulty recruitment process have been levelled against the Manipur Public Service Commission (MPSC) .
Besides, the State Government and MPSC have failed to take up any action although a Division Bench of Gauhati High Court had decreed a ruling on April 22 last year to initiate fresh process for recruitment of Computer Science lecturers.
Petition filed against the ruling had also been quashed by a Divisional Bench of Supreme Court on October 14 this year.
Notification for recruitment of college lecturers of different subjects was issued by MPSC on two different occasions in 2006 .
The results for the said recruitment process was declared on December 15, 2008 .
However allegations have been raised that some selected candidates were found not possessing necessary qualification.A complaint petition was filed by an individual from Sagolband against the appointment at Gauhati High Court on February 7, 2009 .
After a thorough perusal of the case, a Division Bench of the High Court decreed a ruling on April 22, 2010 directing the MPSC to initiate fresh recruitment process for the subject.
The Court also termed the earlier recruitment process as 'illegal' .
However, two of the three selected candidates moved the Supreme Court seeking Interim Relief.
The apex Court thereafter asked the duo to continue with their jobs at their respective colleges until a final hearing.
However, a Divisional Bench of the Supreme Court quashed the plea of the two persons on October 14 this year, decreeing that the petition did not contain any 'merit' .
The State Government and MPSC have however failed to either declare the earlier recruitment process null and void or initiate fresh recruitment process so far.
