KSO Shillong celebrates Diamond Jubilee

Kangpokpi, August 27 2022: The Kuki Students' Organization (KSO) Shillong celebrated its Diamond Jubilee with great exuberance at the North Eastern Hill University (NEHU) Convocation Hall, Shillong.

The momentous occasion was graced by Rev Dino L Touthang, former president of KSO Shillong; J Lhungdim, IDAS retired, former Advisor of KSO Shillong; and Sasang Vaiphei, president KSO General Headquarters as presidium members.

Lamthang Singsit, former president of KSO Shillong from 1980-1981 attended as the Jubilee Pa, and Prof TT Haokip, former president of KSO Shillong from 1987-1988 attended as the chief host.

A jubilee procession was led by Prof TT Haokip before an invocation by Rev Dr Hemkhomang Haokip, pastor Kuki Worship Service Happy Valley.

Speaking on the occasion, KSO Shillong president, Dr Jangkhohao Hangshing stated that the Diamond Jubilee celebration was a significant and momentous occasion.

Highlighting the history of KSO Shillong, Dr Jangkhohao Hangshing recalled the various achievements, success, and contribution of KSO Shillong in making the "Scotland of the East" a more beautiful city and the "abode of clouds" a more peaceful state.

KSO Shillong led by Dr Jangkhohao Hangshing also honored the former leaders with souvenirs in recognition of their selfless service and dedication in their respective tenures.

"It was a historic occasion celebrated joyously and enthusiastically by all cherishing the long 60 years of journey of KSO Shillong", said Dr Jangkhohao.

Leaders from Mizo Students' Union, Zillai Shillong block, Siamsinpawlpi Shillong, Zousang Naupang Pawlpi, Gangte Students' Association, Hmar Students Association, Naga Students' Union Shillong, research scholar from NEHU, Nagaland, KSO Guwahati, KSO-General Headquarters, students, parents, guardians and Church leaders also attended the occasion.

Beautiful cultural dance and traditional dress showcased by KSO Shillong Cultural Troupe and Kuki Chate Kiloikhom (KCK), ARC Shillong marked the event.

Renowned Kuki pop singer, Maxxy Minthang was a special attraction captivating the audience with his stunning performance.

The auspicious occasion culminated with a blessing prayer from pastor Seiminthang Chongloi, Kuki Worship Service, Shillong, and a vote of thanks proposed by Angam Kuki, advisor KSO Shillong.
