The Investigation Officer of Singjamei PS submitted charge sheet against Naorem Dijamani in connection with the Naorem Rekha murder case, before the Chief Judicial Magistrate Imphal West, today.
After the charge sheet was submitted, the Court directed the SP of Manipur Central Jail, Sajiwa, to produce Naorem Dijamani before the Court on September 2 for necessary proceeding.
The charge sheet mentioned that on May 29, Dijamani lodged a written complaint before the OC, Singjamei PS, stating that his wife, Thokchom (N) Naorem Rekha was killed by some unknown persons while she was alone at home and he also claimed that at the time of the incident, he was at his office at District Consumer Redressal Forum, Sangaiprou.
Based on the complaint, a case was registered by Singjamei police and a team of State forensic expert, in presence of Executive Magistrate, carried out inquest of the dead body and the incident site.
The charge sheet mentioned that during examination, Dijamani did not show many emotion and grief which appeared very strange to the police team and on closer examination of his clothes, blood stains were observed on his pant and hence his pant was seized by police.
Dijamani was the last person who had seen the deceased alive in his house before leaving for office, the charge sheet claimed adding that any other day, the gate of the house used to be closed by the deceased normally.
The charge sheet further alleged that even when the investigating team was observing the copper incense stick stand at the crime spot, Dijamani had snatched the item, thereby disturbing the crime scene, which was not expected of a person with legal wisdom and who had served in prosecution branch as Deputy Director and Director for three years.
After considering all the facts, N Dijamani was arrested on May 31, at around 5.30 pm, the charge sheet added.
The post mortem report opined that the death was caused due to intracranial haemorrhages, resulting from blunt force injuries on the head, associated with asphyxia produced by strangulation and it was also confirmed that the mark on the deceased resulting from strangulation was made by the shirt belonging to her husband (Dijamani) which was found near the dead body, the charge sheet mentioned adding that the post mortem report opined that the incident of death took place between 11 am and 1.30 pm of May 29 .
The charge sheet further explained that during the entire course of investigation, it has been highly suspected that it is the work of an insider and Naorem Dijamani is the main suspect but the investigation has not been able to unearth any absolute motive of the accused in killing his wife.
It is highly suspected that incident might have been due to marital discord between him and the deceased, the charge sheet added.
