DC Kpi urges CSOs to extend cooperation for free & fair elections

Kangpokpi, March 27 2019:
The Deputy Commissioner/DEO Kangpokpi district Lalithambigai K and SP Kangpokpi Hemant Pandey convened a meeting today, with the representatives of clubs, Churches, women societies, CSOs and student bodies of the district at the conference hall of the DC, Kangpokpi to discuss matters concerning the ensuing Lok Sabha Election, 2019.DC Lalithambigai K appealed the CSOs to cooperate with the district administration in conducting a free and fair election and asked them to contact the DC herself or any other official of her office at any time when any problem arises.
The toll free number 1950 is also active from 9 am to 9 pm everyday while any citizen can raise any complaint, query and even provide feedback regarding election matters, she added.
The DC also reminded that voter slips will no longer be the stand-alone document for casting a vote and strictly advised all BLOs to personally go and distribute the voter slips to the voters as per ECI guidelines.
Elaborating on Persons with Disabilities (PWD) voters, she stated that five vehicles per assembly constituency have been arranged for transporting them while other necessary facilities like wheelchairs and ramps have also been arranged for locomotors disabled persons.
Speaking at the meeting, SP Hemant Pandey stated that as Kangpokpi is arranging elections independently for the first time with the DEP power given to the DC, it is matter of pride as other newly created districts are still not getting these facilities.
He urged all CSOs to fully cooperate with the election officials for smooth, free and fair elections.
He also pointed out the importance of cVigil app by which any person may raise complain about violating the Model Code of Conduct by uploading geo-tagged photos, videos of upto 10 seconds through the app or dashboard and the problem will be solved within 100 minutes.
The CSOs also appreciated the DC and SP for giving utmost importance to the welfare and development of the people of the district.
On the other hand, training for EVM/VVPAT for presiding and polling officers of the district continued at the multipurpose hall of the DC's office by the master trainers of the district.
The EVM/VVPAT awareness programme for general public using mobile van also continued at Sapormeina by SDO Champhai Chunglienmang Kipgen and other master trainers.
Many villagers of all ages benefited from the programme, maintained a source.
