Education Minister spends time with students on No School Bag Day

Imphal, October 26 2019:
Education Minister Thokchom Radheshyam spent time with students of Wangkhem Junior High School as a part of 'No School Bag Day' .
He said that the policy - No School Bag Day - has been implemented with objectives of making schools a more joyful place of learning and teaching.
The Minister interacting with the students asked how they feel being allowed to come to school without school bags and no classes conducted on Saturdays.
The students told the Minister that they feel 'very free and ease' .

Co-curricular activities are helping them overcome stage fear.
They also expressed that they have learnt more about debate, extempore speech, dance, sports and other activities.
Addressing the gathering of parents, teachers and students, he said that involvement of parents and other stakeholders is a must for overall development of the school and bring about a more holistic development of children.
The co-curricular activities at school will make the students more ease while approaching the teachers.
Radheshyam said that the policy (No School Bag Day) will help in building positive culture amongst the children, providing them platform for inculcating innovative ideas and reducing stress.
"Education is not just about book and ranks and getting job.
Education is to make a person aware about healthy life, to let others live a good life and earn knowledge to make the world a better place to live in," he said.
It may be noted that No School Bag Day was implemented by the Dept of Education(S) on September 3 2019 .
It allows students (Class I-VIII) to got to school with no school bags on Saturdays emphasising more on co-curricular activities.
Later, the Ministerial team accompanied by Zonal Education Officer, Arambam Anilkumar and officials concerned visited Chaoyaima Higher Secondary School, Thoubal wherein the 40th District/Zonal Level Science Exhibition for School Children 2019-20 was held under the theme � Science & Technology for Sustainable Development.
