ADC Sadar Hills organizes medical camp, tree plantation as part of Poshan Maah

As part of the ongoing Rashtriya Poshan Maah (National Nutrition Mission) in the district, Autonomous District Council, Sadar Hills organized medical camp, tree plantation and various other activities at various places of the district today.
Haokholal Hangshing, Chairman ADC Sadar Hills graced the event at Eklavya Model Residential School (EMRS), Gamnom Saparmeina as chief guest while Thangjakam Misao, vice-Chairman, ADC Sadar Hills and T Manihar Singh, Chief Executive Officer (CEO), SHADC Kangpokpi attended as guest of honour and functional president respectively.
Hundreds of students from EMRS Gamnom Saparmeina, teaching and non-teaching staffs and various local bodies participated in the event apart from ADC Sadar Hills Councillors and staffs.

ADC Sadar Hills Chairman, Haokholal Hangshing said that India is celebrating the entire month of September as Rashtriya Poshan Maah (National Nutrition Month) under the theme "Complimentary Feeding" for the year 2019 to emphasise the need for healthy nutrition.
He continued that it aimed at sensitising public on healthy eating, addressing twin issues of malnutrition and under-nutrition and obesity in some sections and also intensifying existing nationwide campaign for 'malnutrition-free India'.
He also said that Autonomous District Council Sadar Hills has been taking an active role in celebration of Poshan Maah since India's flagship programme was first launched in March 2018 by making an action plan in collaboration with the District Administration.
He appealed to the students' community and the general public to ensure grass root level success of the mission in the district.
CEO, SHADC Kangpokpi, T Manihar Singh said that Poshan Abhiyan is a multi-ministerial convergence mission with the vision to ensure attainment of malnutrition free India by 2022 and its objective is to reduce stunting in identified districts of India with the highest malnutrition burden by improving utilization of key Anganwadi services and improving the quality of Anganwadi services delivery adding that it aims to ensure holistic development and adequate nutrition for pregnant women, mothers and children.
He also said that more activities will be taken up before the end of September such as food mela etc, in the district.
Apart from health check-up to the student community, promotion of drumsticks or local medicinal herbs and vegetables through plantation was also conducted during the programme at EMRS, Gamnom Saparmeina.
Meanwhile, a medical camp was held at Keithelmanbi Junior High School in connection with the Poshan Maah by ADC Sadar Hills where over 236 students availed the medical benefits.
Headmaster of Keithelmanbi Junior High School on behalf of the School Management and Development Committee expressed heartfelt gratitude to the CEO, T Manihar Singh and his staffs for conducting the medical camp under Rashtriya Poshan Maah (Nation Nutrition Mission) at the school in the interest of the student community.
