Moreh bodies react

Strongly reacting to Deputy Chief Minister's statement on Moreh violence, Kha Nongpok Apunba Nupi Lup (KNANL), Moreh and Nupi Khunai Chaokhat Lamjing Lup (NKCLL), Moreh have said that the statement has added fuel to the people's ire.
In a joint statement, the two women bodies questioned how the Deputy Chief Minister could claim that there was no security lapses although 85 hotels and shops were vandalised and looted and over 40 vehicles damaged at Moreh bazar on August 18 .
Saying that Moreh police station is located less than 100 metres from the incident site, the two bodies questioned what action the Deputy Chief Minister would take if they show video footages of the three-hour long violence wherein security forces remained as mere spectators.
The bodies further questioned why Meetei community of Moreh should not take the man, who had provided wrong information about the incident to the Deputy Chief Minister, as their enemy.
The women bodies said that the Deputy Chief Minister must clarify whether it police inaction was Additional SP RK Khomdon's mistake or he was compelled to do so due to the pressure from his seniors.
The bodies also questioned whether Gaikhangam did not get any information regarding involvement of AK-47 and 9 mm pistol armed cadres of SoO signatory Kuki UG groups in the violence.
Saying that people are not intentionally targeting Moreh Additional SP RK Khomdon, the two bodies said that they have been demanding termination of the police officer's service as he could not discharge his duty at the time of need and as a result people of Meetei community had suffered a huge loss of property.
