561 new cases detected, fatalities spike to 15

Imphal, June 26 2021: As impact of the second wave of Covid-19 pandemic continues unabated in the state, the new fatality count rose 15 in the last 24 hours with government bulletins reporting 561 new positive cases out of 4516 samples tested on Saturday.

With the addition of 561 new cases along with recovery of 534 patients in the last 24 hours, the active caseload has reached 5680 of which 2347 are in home isolation and 1797 in CHICs.

As on Friday 10 pm, 723 patients were undergoing treatment in different hospitals with 303 including 30 post-Covid patients on oxygen support, 16 patients on NIV support and 37 on ventilator support.

The figure, however, does not include data from JNIMS and I-land hospitals.

On the other hand, 813 patients are in different CCCs and 78 of them are on oxygen support.

During the current month, the state has reported 16,566 new cases and 301 fatalities of which 3779 new cases and 69 fatalities were added in the last seven days.

So far, 39,129 positive cases and 753 fatalities have been reported since the beginning of the current year.

The State Level Covid-19 Deaths Audit Committee confirmed 15 Covid-19 deaths (9 males & 6 females) in the last 24 hours.

The district wise fatalities are Imphal West (2), Imphal East (5), Thoubal (1), Bishnupur (3), Tamenglong (2), Chandel (1) and Churachandpur (1) .

Five patients died at RIMS, four at JNIMS, two each at Shija Hospitals & DH Tamenglong, and one each at Raj Medicity & DH Churachandpur.

The cumulative number of deaths has reached 1108 .

Six victims were from the age group of below 60 years including two under-30 individuals.

Three victims did not have any co-morbid conditions.

One patient died within four hours of arrival at hospital, one within 12 hours, two within 24 hours, three within 48 hours and one within 72 hours.

According to official reports, the 561 new cases included 554 persons (260 males & 294 females) from among the general population and 7 personnel from Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) .

Their samples were tested at RIMS (25), JNIMS (44), District Hospitals (299) and other testing centres (193).The positive cases from among the general population are from Imphal East (77), Imphal West (203), Thoubal (70), Bishnupur (45), Kakching (40), Ukhrul (17), Churachandpur (57), Chandel (7), Tamenglong (4), Tengnoupal (13), Jiribam (6), Pherzawl (1) and Kangpokpi (14).All necessary containment and contact tracing are in place.

Out of the 534 persons discharged in the last 24 hours, 228 were under home isolation (228), 18 at RIMS, 8 at JNIMS, 112 at CCCs and 168 at CHICs.

The cumulative number of positive cases has reached 67,317 (general population - 63,502 and CAPF personnel - 3,815).Number of recovered cases is 60,529 (general population - 56,762 and CAPF personnel - 3,767) and number of active cases is 5,680 (general population - 5,637 and CAPF personnel - 43).The recovery rate is 89.91 per cent.

In the last 24 hours, 1739 D-type and 365 B-type Oxygen cylinders were made available to different health facilities.

District hospitals and government institutions have 469D and 83B type filled cylinders while the district/sub-division wise distribution made in the last 24 hours was Bishnupur (111D,4B), Chandel (34D,9B), Chura-chandpur (82D,0B), Senapati (48D,0B), Thoubal (66D,29B), Ukhrul (39D,15B), Tamenglong (12D,0B), Jiribam (45D,12B), Moreh (16D,4B), Kamjong (3D,1B), Kangpokpi (3D,0B), Kakching (2D,7B), Pherzawl (6D,2B), Noney (2D,0B) and CCC (284D,101B) .

As on Friday, 5,23,899 individuals have been given Covid vaccine shots with 82,975 inoculated for the second time.

A total of 8470 vaccine doses including 161 for second dose were administered on Friday.

As per data maintained by The People's Chronicle based on IDSP and CCR reports, number of total cases in different districts are Imphal West (23,666), Imphal East (15,042), Thoubal (5517), Churachandpur (5280), Kangpokpi (1710), Tamenglong (2113), Bishnupur (4142), Senapati (1370), Ukhrul (1446), Kakching (3297), Chandel (1135), Noney (557), Tengnoupal (753), Jiribam (747), Kamjong (434) and Pherzawl (108) .

Fatality counts in different districts are Imphal West (398), Imphal East (289), Thoubal (103), Churachandpur (87), Kangpokpi (28), Tamenglong (11), Bishnupur (81), Senapati (5), Ukhrul (15), Kakching (61), Chandel (16), Noney (3), Tengnoupal (5), Jiribam (3), Kamjong (3), and Pherzawl (0) .

However, the figure does not match with data released by CMOs of some districts.

Data analysed by this daily shows that the rate of infection remains 21,694 confirmed cases per million population (based on projected population of 31,03,000 as per NCP report) against the national average of 21,698 CPM.

Test rate has improved to 2,84,542 tests per million population against the national average of 2,88,387 TPM.

Case fatality rate rose to 1.65 per cent.

In the past 24 hours, only 4516 samples were tested and the single day positivity rate was 12.42 per cent while the cumulative positivity rate rose to 7.62 per cent.
