Tamenglong, April 26 2018:
Reiterating its stand that not even an inch of Tousem Sub Division will be dedicated and disposed off to be a part of any newly created district, the Tousem Area Students' Organisation (TASO) has reaffirmed that the people of the division will not tolerate any sort of fragmentation and no forceful disintegration will be entertained as it will be detrimental to the peaceful and harmonious coexistence amongst the eight tribes inhabiting Tousem Sub Division.
A press release issued by president of TASO stated that the recent visits by Jiribam District Demand Committee and Jiribam police for conducting surveys and inspection in some parts of Tousem area have alarmed the people of the division.
TASO cautioned that such acts will not be tolerated in the near future and that any repeated activities will be met with severe action.
Pointing out that these activities are against the wish and aspirations of the people, the students' organisation along CSOs of the area have strongly condemned the acts.
"We respect the rights of any people to attain a new district but never at the peril of Tousem Sub Division", the press statement added.
The students' organisation appealed the State Government to immediately shift the Jiribam police stationed at Tatbung village, which is fully beyond the territorial limit of Jiribam, under Tousem Sub Division of Tamenglong district.
It warned that it will not tolerate any future intent of Jiribam police to set up illegal outpost in Tousem area and will not bear responsibility for any unwanted consequences in the future.
