Man shot by Assam Rifles at Litan

Personnel of 23 Assam Rifles (AR) shot and injured a person who tried to escape from a frisking party near Moukod hill under Litan police station in Manipur this morning.
According to police sources, a bullet injured person was brought to the casualty department of Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) by the 23 AR.
At around 5:30 am today, 23 AR troops were conducting frisking operation near the Moukod hills, under Litan police station, when two persons on a motorcycle tried to escape the frisking party instead of stopping, said the police source.
The AR personnel shot and injured one of the two persons, while the other escaped.
The injured person is identified as ASYaireibung (32), s/o ASRachanhao of Tongou village, under Litan police station.
He was injured on the right leg, stomach and hand, and 4 kg of opium was recovered from him, said the source.
