Imphal, February 26 2017: PCI member K Amarnath has stated that news pages should be used for news items for the benefit of the people, not for personal publicity.

Speaking to media persons at Old Secretariat conference hall, K Amarnath said, "News page cannot be used for personal publicity.

A news item is not the same as an advertisement.

A news written by a journalist is a serious matter when compared to an advertisement" .

He said, "A journalist should be honest and provide fair service to the public.

A journalist has no role in paid news" .

"Only advertisements should be paid for publishing, not news", he said at the meeting where Additional CEO, Manipur, RK Dinesh was also present.
