Imphal, June 25 2013:
The Senapati District Consumers' Club (SDCC) has slammed the CAF&PD Minister for giving misleading information in the House on Friday.
In an emergency meeting held on June 24 at Hotel Blue Hill, Senapati Bazaar, the SDCC discussed on the ongoing tussle between the CAF/PD and the Club regarding the rice scam and the statement of M Okendro, Minister, CAF/PD, on the floor of the ongoing Assembly regarding ration card holders, informed a statement issued by D Maryna, President, Senapati District Consumers' Club.
The Minister informed the house on Friday that in Manipur State the numbers of ration card holders are 240'593 APL, 120'400 BPL and 63'600 AAY and total household of 407'152.If these data were true where could be the ration cards of the three Assembly Segments of Senapati namely 47-Karong A/C, 48-Mao A/C and 49-Tadubi A/C? The fact is that no ration cards were issued to the people of these three Assembly segments till now and the State Vigilance Department is fully aware of it.
The Minister is answerable and duty bound to trace out the whereabouts of these essential cards and reach it to the deserving people rather than making false information which is not only misleading the people but also encouraging malpractices in high places, the statement said.
Hence the Club condemned the Minister's statement and demanded public apology from him or step down from his office on moral grounds to purge the rotting system in Sanaliepak.
The Club also wondered what gagged the mouths of the three representatives of people (Dr Alexander Pao, MLA of 47-Karong A/C, Francis Ngajokpa, Minister RD&PR of 49-Tadubi A/C- and L Dikho, MLA of 48-Mao A/C) from reacting or countering the CAF/PD Minister's statement in the Assembly in the interest of their affected electorates and people in general.
Are they scared, ignorant, non-chalant or pro Minister?, it asked while adding they are equally answerable to the people.
