Guardians' association threatens stir

The Association of Guardians, Thambal Marik College, Oinam, has threatened to launch intense agitation including imposing bandh and strike in Bishnupur district if the Minister of Higher Education does not accord approval to the functioning of the College's Governing Body by June 29 .
Addressing a press meet today at the Manipur Press Club, president of Association of Guardians, Thambal Marik College, N Indubhuson Singh stated that after the previous governing body's term expired last year in November, 11 new members were elected.
As per the guidelines of the Government, the body is constituted by two representatives each from the guardians, teaching staff, Manipur University, two local educationists nominated by the Government, and a nominee each from the Directorate of University & Higher Education, donor and the principal of the college.
Indubhuson rued that the governing body still remains disfunctional since the Minister of Higher Education failed to grant its approval even after being approached previously on May 3 .
The college has been functioning without a governing body for more than six months, causing a hindrance in its administration, he conveyed.
