Imphal, June 25 2011:
Tamenglong SP Gonlin Faumei, while clarifying that the contents of the report published under the heading "Nungba Police Station reels under shortages" as published on June 22 were fallacious, asserted that the subsequent corrigendum issued by the Nungba village chairman/secretary published on June 24 under the heading "Report disowned" correcting the earlier report as 'four barracks of its own' in place of 'four rifles' confirmed the report in question was unfounded.
The truism is that during the last two years or so under the police modernization programme two buildings namely SDPO quarter and office-cum-barrack were added to the existing structures of the Nungba PS.
A press release issued by the Tamenglong SP maintained there are fairly enough buildings/accommodation for police personnel in the PS, albeit some of the newly inducted VDFs who could not be accommodated in the existing PS barracks are being accommodated in temporary sheds out of necessity, as permanent structure for their accommodation is yet to be finalised and constructed.
Informing that all the buildings of the PS have been fully electrified, the SP said that the approach road to the PS from the highway would be metalled soon.
