MLA Karam Shyam distributes financial aids

Imphal, January 24 2021: MLA Karam Shyam extended financial assistance to 531 wards of widows of Langthabal Assembly Constituency today.

He distributed the aid at a programme organised by Langthabal Kendra Widows Welfare Association (LKWWA) at Lilong Chajing Mairengkhong community hall.

Karam Shyam said at the programme that this is the 7th edition, of the annual programme.

However, this year the financial aids are being given to ward level committee as the children and their parents are not participating in the function due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

He added that financial assistance to the kids is not the sole purpose of this annual programme but it is also aimed at providing moral support to the single mothers whose husbands had died and to the children being brought up single handedly by their mother.

He added that LKWWA had managed the small funds he donated to them every second Saturday and that was being used to provide financial aid to the children.

There is no political string attached to the association and he also had given strict instruction to LKWWA not have any political affiliation, he added.

Karam Shyam also said that the number of lives claimed by drug abuse was increasing and so is the number of widows.

Keeping in mind all such incidence and the lives they will affect, youth should stay away from drug abuse, he added.
