Imphal, December 23 2020: Kisan Diwas cum National Mushroom Day was held today at Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) for NEH Region Manipur Centre complex organised by All India Coordinated Research Project (AICRP) on mushroom, Agri Business Incubation Centre and ICAR Krishi Vigyan Kendra.

Project Director of Mission Organic Value Chain Development for North Eastern Regions (MOVCDNER) K Debdutta Sharma, Vice Chancellor of Central Agricultural University (CAU) Dr Anupam Mishra and Joint Director of ICAR Manipur, Irengbam Meghachandra attended as the presidium members.

Speaking on the occasion Meghachandra said the theme of this year's National Mushroom Day is 'Mushroom as Immunity Booster'.

With the infusion of new and advanced technology, oyster and button mushrooms are produced in large quantities easily within a short period of time this year, he added.

He also appealed to the public to grow protein rich mushrooms in every household and ICAR is ready to provide all technical help, training and guidance for the same.
