PMUY (Ujjwala), LPG home delivery service launched

Agriculture, Veterinary and Animal Husbandry Minister V Hangkhanlian, today, launched the LPG home delivery service and release of PMUY (Ujjwala) at Dorcas Hall, Churachandpur District in the presence of Chairman ADC, Churachandpur Khaipao Haokip, Deputy Commissioner, Shyam Lal Poonia, and Manager (LPG-S) Imphal II LSA Stephen C Guite .
Speaking on the occasion, Minister V Hangkhanlian noted that Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana is a social welfare scheme introduced for BPL families to get subsidised LPG connection.
The scheme was introduced by PM Narendra Modi, considering the number of BPL families and the drastic change in environment and the ecosystem, he said while adding that it will replace the traditional way of cooking using firewood, which is adopted by people in remote areas .
“Ujjwala Yojana aims at providing five crore LPG connections for women belonging in BPL households across the country”, said the Minister .
He urged the LPG distributors and beneficiaries of the district to report to the concerned appellate authority chaired by the Deputy Commissioner, Churachandpur so that nobody is left out from availing the scheme and assured that he will extend all possible assistance in fulfilling the needs of the people.
It may be mentioned that as per the reports from Indian Oil Officials, there are nine LPG distributors in the district and out of the total 3,80,000 beneficiaries, 3000 beneficiaries have been enrolled for PMUY (Ujjwala) scheme, based on Socio Economic Census (SEC) of 2011 Census.
