Imphal, June 23 2024:
MLA Karam Shyam has stated that it's time for all politicians of Manipur to work as one with an understanding.
Speaking at the inaugural functions of three projects executed with MLA Local Area Development Fund at Chajing Karam Makha Leikai today, Karam Shyam said, "We, politicians must discharge our duties responsibly instead of indulging in verbal spats when the anguished and aggrieved people lash out at the Chief Minister, Ministers and MLAs" .
These days people don't like to listen to what politicians have to say.
People are aware of the causes of the 14 months old Manipur violence and its devastating impacts.
The Government and the politicians must know the collective desire of the people, he said.
"It has been almost 12 years since I became an MLA but I'm becoming a coward on account of being a BJP MLA", he said.
If the violence is not brought to an end at any cost, it will have serious repercussions on the future of Manipur, he said.
Many village volunteers have laid down their lives for the cause of Manipur's integrity and it is the duty of the Government to protect all the village volunteers, Karam Shyam said.
The responsibility shouldered by womenfolk in the course of the protracted crisis is also commendable, he said.
Asserting that Manipur cannot break apart under any circumstances, he also hailed the Rongmei CSOs who helped in escorting stranded vehicles from Jiribam to Imphal.
The MLA inaugurated Karam Makha Leikai community hall and three other projects one after another.
