Civil Secretariat works expedited

With the State Government determined to get the new Manipur Civil Secretariat building inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in March, the work agency concerned has started giving the final touch to the construction work.
One official of the PWD Building Division informed that 70 workers have been engaged to finish the pending works of the Civil Secretariat building.
The work force would be strengthened by 200 more labourers during the current month and the construction work would be expedited in full swing.
There would be little financial problems in completing the pending works for there is enough fund.
Moreover, Rs 10 crore was incorporated in the State budget of the current financial year for construction of the Civil Secretariat building.
The question is whether the contractors can finish the pending works in time or not.
Moreover, transportation of construction materials from outside the State often takes a long time.
Nonetheless, as the State Government is determined to get the Civil Secretariat building inaugurated in March, all efforts would be invested to finish the pending works so that the Prime Minister can inaugurate it in March, added the source.
In line with the sense of urgency in the work, Chief Minister N Biren Singh made a surprise inspection of the ongoing construction works of the Civil Secretariat buildings located at Mantripukhri today.
The Chief Minister also inspected the construction work of Rani Gaidinliu Park which is located adjacent to the Secretariat building.
He also directed the officials concerned to expedite the construction work of the Park and complete it before Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit in March.MLA (Lamlai AC) Ksh Biren Singh, Chief Secretary RR Rashmi, Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Dr J Suresh Babu and officials of PWD accompanied the Chief Minister during the inspection.
Meanwhile, the Chief Minister has also instructed the officials concerned to expedite the construction works of Thoubal Multipurpose Project and Dolaithabi Barrage Project.
N Biren held a meeting with Water Resources Minister Letpao Haokip and Chief Secretary RR Rashmi this afternoon and reviewed the progress of the two projects.
