Imphal, December 22 2024:
The Egalitarian Manipur of the Altruists (EMA) Trust organised an interaction programme between scholarship recipients and their sponsors at the community hall of THAU Ground in Thangmeiband today.
Notably, the scholarship recipients are young students from households who have lost family members in the ongoing Manipur conflict.
The educational support was arranged and facilitated by EMA Trust.
Speaking on the occasion, Shantikumar Sapam, retired Colonel and president, EMA Trust, stated that the Trust was established by a group of likeminded people with the goal of extending educational and other forms of support to the people who are bearing the brunt of the violent conflict.
He informed that every month 62 students receive educational support through these scholarships which are sponsored not only by individuals from the State but also beyond.
After EMA Trust achieves the target of providing scholarships to all children of those who lost their lives in the conflict, the educational support will be extended to children in the relief camps, maintained Shantikumar Sapam.
Additionally, it is EMA Trust's goal to set up a hostel to provide educational support to children of victims of violence as well as the students seeking shelter in relief camps.
The scholarships will be provided until the young students complete Class XII, however, it may extend beyond this point if fortunate, he added.
HQ 9 Sector Assam Rifles sponsored the snacks & other food items during the programme while Dr Bhoomika, HOD, RIMS Dental sponsored Ayush medical kits.
