Imphal, December 22 2021:
Manipur Students' Federation (MSF) has urged the State Government to focus their attention on Government schools across the State which are brimming with inadequate facilities, infrastructure, teaching staff and so on.
In a statement, MSF made particular mention of two schools which had recently been upgraded to higher secondary status as per an order issued by the Government on August 27 .
During a series of surveys conducted by MSF as part of their 'Eikhoi Lairik Ningthina Tamshi' academic campaign, MSF discovered lots of inadequacies in these two schools, namely Khongampat Higher Secondary School and Oinam Government School, according to their statement.
MSF stated that both these schools did not have adequate teaching staff, science labs and infrastructure was lacking in all aspects.
Further, a survey conducted at Budhimanjuri High School by an MSF team on December 17 revealed that the school did not have the required number of classrooms or teachers, drinking water and overall left much to be desired.
MSF has expressed deep disappointment with the state of Government schools in Manipur.
It further condemned corruption seeping into the education sector and the attitude of viewing schools simply as money-making machines, and listed these as reasons for the degradation of schools in the State.
As such, Manipur Students' Federation has appealed to the administration to pay close attention to these Government schools in order to bring about better educated youths in the future.
