Mainland ignorant of NE problems: Dr Th Meinya

Imphal, September 22 2012: The 7th General Council Meeting of Life Insurance Agents' Federation of India (LIAFI), Silchar Divisional Council was held at JNMDA here today with MP Dr Th Meinya as Chief Guest.

On the occasion, Dr Th Meinya said that there are times when the mainland India shows no regard to issues of North East.

As a Member of Parliament representing Manipur, sometimes it feels really disheartening to see that mainland India does not at all understand the problems of the people of the North East.

The MP observed that almost all the Acts and rules of India are good.

However, some of the Acts and rules which are assumed to be so good are practically not applicable in the states.

Though MGNREGS is a very good scheme for the people of the country which provides 100 days of compulsory employment in a year, it cannot be termed as a completely successful scheme.

Presided over by Nilambar, President of SDC, LIAFI, the function was also attended by Ashis Kumarv Das, Eastern Zonal President, LIAFI as Guest of Honour.

A souvenir entitled "Frontier Forteen" was also released to mark the occasion.
