Imphal, September 22 2011:
The State Government has not been able to furnish a report on the assets owned by its Ministers and MLAs even after more than one month.
In the earlier part of August last, Union Ministry of Home Affairs had given an instruction to the State Government for submission of such a report within one month time so as to make public the assets of the Ministers and MLAs.
Accordingly, the State Government constituted a Cabinet Sub-Committee headed by Revenue Minister Th Debendra as chairman to look into the matter and prepare a report in this regard.
After the first meeting of the Cabinet Sub-Committee, a request had been send to the Ministry for providing a format under which the report is to be prepared and work out the value of the assets owned by the Ministers and MLAs.
In its response, the Ministry had also subsequently conveyed to the State Government that there is no such definite format.
However, the Cabinet Sub-Committee is yet to submit its report either to the State Government or the Ministry and no further meeting of the Sub-Committee has been ever convened.
